Organised and curated numerous major exhibitions including Henry Moore and Landscape, Lynn Chadwick, Marino Marini, Kan Yasuda, Ursula von Rydingsvard, David Nash Magdelena Abakanowicz, Anthony Caro, Joel Shapiro, Barbara Hepworth and Eduardo Chillida.

He has travelled in North America, Thailand, India, Japan, Africa and many European countries, lecturing and advising on sculpture in the open-air, contributing to conferences and organisation exhibitions including, Phillip King retrospective at Forte de Belvedere, Florence. British Contemporary Sculpture at Schloss Ambras and New British Art at Kunstraum, Austria and an international sculpture and landscape project at Holzhausen in Germany.

He has been a trustee of the Marino Marini Museum in Florence and up until recently Vice President of the International Sculpture Centre in Washington DC and is a member of the Art Advisory Committee of the Springhornhof Foundation in Germany.

He has received a number of honours and awards including the National Arts Collection Fund Award, Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art, Honorary Doctorate from the University of Lincolnshire and North Humberside and in 1996 was awarded an OBE for contribution to the Arts.

He has written articles and reviews for art journals and other publications and contributed to TV and radio.

Over the last few years he has worked with planners, architects and landscape designers and others to establish a masterplan for YSP which has included an Integrated Landscape Management Plan for the 500 acre historic estate, a £13m capital development programme culminating in a 600 sqm underground gallery landscaped into the hillside of the Bothy garden.
