McClelland extends our condolences to the family and friends of our inaugural Director, Carl Andrew (1939–2019). Carl was formative in McClelland’s early focus on Australian sculpture from 1971–1975, and had a distinguished career as a curator, specialising in Australian colonial art and decorative arts. Carl remained passionately involved with McClelland until very recently. We celebrate his life, his commitment to art, and his vital contribution to McClelland over the years.

McClelland also celebrates the life of Joan Crowther, our charismatic and inimitable weekend manager who sadly passed away recently. She was a much-loved part of our Gallery and left a memorable impression on every visitor with her bright smile and conversation. Our thoughts are with Joan’s family and friends.

McClelland is grateful for the generous support of Creative Victoria and The Balnaves Foundation, in addition to sponsors and partners Frankston City Council, IAS and Haymes Paint.
